About Dani

Life can be complicated and
challenging.

Feeling overwhelmed by dark or heavy thoughts.

Notice you have trouble with saying what you mean; find yourself saying “yes” when you really mean “no”.

Feeling unorganized. Things feel messy, almost chaotic.

It’s hard to tell people how you feel. Noticed people-pleasing tendencies.

You jump from relationship to relationship. It isn’t easy just sitting with yourself or dealing with a break-up.

You feel like sleeping all day or hiding from the world, under your covers.

“What’s the point?”

Yet life can also be full of joy,
happiness, and peace.

Many of my clients shared that they could finally move past obstacles that debilitated them in the past in our work together.

Imagine being able to manage the dark and heavy thoughts… being able to sustain feeling neutral despite what’s going on around you

Feeling “normal” and not have these thoughts dictate your life.

You can learn how to manage thoughts and emotions, keeping you from living life to the fullest.

A safe, non-judgmental
space…

I have heard everything you can imagine...

Therefore, no judgment here. I have experienced many of the struggles my clients have experienced as well. I’m also a believer that we are all the same – though our situations may be different from each other, we’ve all experienced loss, heartbreak, sadness, anger, frustration; we are all similar in the emotions we experience.

Life also doesn’t have to be so serious; I like to incorporate analogies and humor to help others feel more welcomed and comfortable.

When we work together, you’ll be able to share your personal experiences and completely unload your feelings. I like to give my clients the analogy of shining a flashlight in a cave. We’re exploring the breakdowns and challenges together, and it doesn’t have to feel scary or bad.

Sometimes people are a little reluctant to do virtual/online therapy. But once they’ve done their initial session with me, they often feel MORE comfortable than if they were in a traditional office. It feels private, confidential, convenient, comfortable, and easy.

You’ll gain insight, self-awareness,
and clarity.

As we work together, you’ll gain a sense of inner confidence and peace as you tap into your Highest Self. Highest Self is the best version of you. The part of you that wants to get rid of unwanted behaviors, the part of you that wants to control stress, anxiety, and frustration better. Through years of challenges, doubts, and fears, we lose touch with this version of ourselves. We break down the doubts and explore the root(s) of the fears.

We shine a light on the dark, so it’s not so ‘bad’ anymore. We understand why we do the things we do, which better helps us eliminate what we no longer want and implement what we do want.

Over time, you’ll feel more confident in the decisions you make because you’ll feel better about who those decisions are coming from (you). You’ll also find yourself managing emotions like anger, depression, anxiety, and addiction(s) more effectively.

I am a Florida
native!

My family is from Trinidad and Tobago, but I was born and raised in Homestead, Florida. Growing up with family from the Caribbean, beauty has always been viewed as women who are ‘thicker’ (bigger). If you haven’t noticed yet, I’m a thinner person. I developed a narrative over time that I wasn’t pretty enough or good enough because I needed to gain weight. Over time, I developed self-esteem issues that led to unhealthy relationships, spiraling into alcohol abuse, and drug use. From this, I have been able to work on myself and work through these issues. Growing up in Florida, I had access to various personal growth and development workshops, and a diverse way to expose me to different healing methods.

About Me

My path to becoming a
therapist…

Through college and some years after that, I had challenges with low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, alcohol, and drugs. I hid it so well that I pretty much always lived a double life. I always wanted more but didn’t know what more was. I was such a hypocrite. Here I was telling people not to do the very things I was doing. I started practicing the handouts I’d give to my clients. I started implementing the things I was teaching people to do. I looked at what worked and what didn’t work. I fine-tuned my therapy models based on things I tried on myself, and the more I did this, the more effective I became.

Training and experience

My formal training includes a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) with a minor in psychology… as well as a Master of Social Work (MSW)—both from Florida International University. Go Panthers!

In addition to being a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), I am a Certified Addictions Professional and a Qualified Supervisor for Registered Clinical Social Work Interns in Florida.

Before going into private practice, I worked at various South Florida outpatient settings, residential and day treatment centers, and programs that specialize in adult substance use.

I have extensive training working with adults who’ve experienced a myriad of mental health issues.
